Monday afternoon marked the end of Ernie Nestor's tenure as Elon men's basketball coach. He was at the university for six years.
In his career, Nestor compiled a 67-117 record. In Division I college basketball, this record is more than below par. Elon athletics is going into a new direction, hopefully a direction of success.
Last season, there was no question that Nestor's job was in question. He was saved by Elon's run to the SoCon tourney finals, before losing to Davidson.
The past two years, it is obvious that Elon has individual talent on its roster, but can't seem to put the pieces together.
Dave Blank, Elon's athletic director, has made it apparent that he wants to win. With a new face as head men's basketball coach, a new direction in the program can be taken.
Hopefully, this direction will lead to success for the program.
