On Oct. 18, 2008, Elon defeated UT Chattanooga 43-7. This year's matchup between the two teams will most-likely be a closer contest. Last year The Mocs did not win a game in conference.
Already this season The Mocs have two conference wins. One of the wins came over Wofford, who made the FCS playoffs during the 2008 season.
Last year's game between the Phoenix and the Mocs was the breakout game for sophomore running back Jamal Shuman. As a freshman last year, Shuman carried the ball for 18 times for a total of 166 yards rushing.
Senior wide receiver Blue Cooper and sophomore quarterback B.J. Coleman have had a connection throughout the season. Out of Coleman's 120 completions, Cooper has caught 37 of them.
