The Orientation Schedule for Aug. 26-27 has been revised because of the threat of storms from Hurricane Irene.
New Student Convocation will be held Under the Oaks, the scheduled location, Friday, Aug. 26 at 5 p.m. The "Being an Elon Parent" sessions Friday at 6:15 and 7:30 p.m. have been cancelled. On Saturday, the continental breakfast at 8 a.m. and and Parent Gathering at 10:00 a.m. have also been cancelled.
Schedules for Sunday and Monday are expected to remain the same.
Other changes to the Friday and Saturday schedules include:
- The Open House for Elon Legacy families is scheduled for Friday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
- The Multicultural Family Receptions will now be held Friday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
- The Brother/Sister Orientation will be held Friday from 4 to 6 p.m.
- Dinner will be held Friday from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.
- The transfer students' academic advising session will be held Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m.
- A floor and hall meeting has been added on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m.
"This could be a large storm, so we are taking it very seriously," Gov. Perdue said in the press release. "Everyone in central and eastern North Carolina needs to keep a close eye on the weather forecast and listen to instructions from local emergency management officials."
