The Academic Village is just the latest site of construction on Elon University's campus. This week, a team broke ground on the Numen Lumen Pavilion, the final building in the village which will serve as a Multi-faith Center.
The Numen Lumen Pavilion was formally dedicated at a ceremony in November and will include a multipurpose room, prayer room and meditation garden. The 15,000 square-foot building is schedule to open in January 2013 and is estimated to cost in the upper $4 million range.
"(The Numen Lumen Pavilion) is very unique and I think that in 10 years, many liberal arts colleges are going to look around and think, 'What are we going to do now? We should've done this,'" said Chaplain Jan Fuller in a previous interview. "And you know for lots of liberal arts colleges it's not a priority, but what's unique about Elon is that it is. The reason I came to Elon,
the reason I wanted to come to Elon is because Elon has made this commitment, and that's what I want to do with the rest of my life"
