A train struck and killed two persons at 6:48 p.m. Saturday on the tracks near the railroad crossing on South Glen Raven Road, according to a press release from the Burlington police department. The two persons were identified as Lawrence Chadwick Hyde, 23, and Christopher Thomas Isley, 24, both of 1119 N. Park Ave. Burlington.

The Burlington Fire Department, Alamance County EMS, Alamance County Rescue, Amtrack Company Police and Norfolk Souther Railroad Company Police responded to the scene.

The train was traveling southbound to Charlotte, N.C., according to the release. The train was delayed for approximately three hours.
