We spoke to an Elon student who said she believes that she was the subject of the Smith Jackson email below. We reached out to Dr. Jackson for comment, but he did not respond:
The following email was sent on November 15:
Dear Students,
Late this afternoon an Elon student reported that an unidentified male yelled an Asian racial slur at her as she was crossing the street at the intersection of Williamson and Haggard, by the Kangaroo gas station. The male was driving a red mini SUV. No physical description was given; he was wearing a black hat and a black jacket.
This behavior is not acceptable at Elon and will not be tolerated whether done by a student, non-student or others. Please contact Campus Security if you have any information about this incident. If you are subjected to such behavior, please call 911 immediately.
