Alexis Gray was released from Alamance Regional Medical Center this morning upon completion of her medical evaluation there, according to an email sent by Smith Jackson, vice president of Student Life.

After her release, she was served a warrant for felony possession of a weapon on a college campus and transported to the Alamance County District Court. The judge issued a temporary commitment order, and she will undergo further evaluation at Central Regional Hospital in Raleigh, N.C. The judge will decide the next step in the legal or treatment process, including a bond amount and her conditions of release, according to the email.

Gray, an 18-year-old student at Penn State University, entered Elon University’s campus Nov. 25 with a Remington-597.22 caliber rifle, a knife and 6.5 feet of rope in her vehicle, according to the incident report. Her parents and ex-boyfriend, an Elon student, alerted campus police that she likely traveling to Elon, and the police apprehended her outside Danieley Center. After obtaining a search warrant, the police searched Gray’s vehicle and took her into custody.
