An Elon University alumnus debuted his first full-length film production this past weekend at Walter M. Williams High School in Burlington.
The first night of the premiere of "Find a Way" drew an audience of more than a thousand people.
“This is a God and Alamance County thing,” said Cornelius Muller, Class of 1993 and executive producer of the production.
The premise of “Find a Way” was inspired by the life and legacy of Harry Cohen, a former student and football player at Williams who died Aug. 29, 2011, during his senior year.
Muller said he was motivated to produce his latest faith-infused film “as a written tribute to Harry Cohen in his community.” Muller, who is also a personal trainer, personally knew Cohen through his athletic training company in Burlington. Before pursuing his passion for filmmaking, Muller diligently trained as an athlete.
Muller became involved in producing films after he graduated from Elon, where he majored in human services and played on the university’s basketball team.
“I always liked the arts,” Muller said.
Even after graduation from Elon, Muller said the school continued to support his emerging career in films.
“I’d rather have life present you with an opportunity you love”, said Muller. “Making films is something I can do all day, everyday”
Several members of Cornelius Muller Productions LLC are Elon graduates, as well, and several segments of “Find a Way” were filmed on campus. The filming for the production began last Winter Term, and several Elon students helped out on the production.
The film was well received by many of those at the screenings.
“The film was awesome,” said Steve Riggins, who attended the premiere to support his wife. Her music was included in the production.
