Super Bowl Sunday is unquestionably one of my all-time favorite holidays of the year. But this year, the game was not personal for me at all. Being a fan of a major losing team (which will remain unnamed), I just got to enjoy it this year. Even my team’s main rivals were not in the running to be champions so I had no one to cheer against.

Since I was not personally invested in the outcome, I had the opportunity to choose my own team to root for. My choice was the Ravens, based only on the fact that Michael Oher is on their roster, and I really liked The Blind Side. Sandra Bullock was even in attendance to show her support.

But still, as the confetti was released throughout the stadium I was not nearly as excited as I would if it were my own team. So what was there to get me out of my chair with anticipation and hope besides the promise of nachos and mozzarella sticks in the kitchen? The answer: Beyonce.

That diva did not disappoint her Beyhive. My only complaint was waiting for them to sing the words “Say My Name” as all three members of Destiny’s Child walked on the stage. But I didn’t have time to dwell on that while I enjoyed the classics “Crazy in Love,” “Bootylicious” and “Baby Boy.” If you missed this cardio heavy, divalicious performance, you can check it out here. And I highly recommend it.

It has been a big couple of weeks for Beyonce between the inauguration ceremony and the Super Bowl. Inevitably, everyone compared Beyonce’s half time performance to Madonna’s last year. And there was a very clear winner. Sorry, Madge.
