Elon University announced the hiring of several new assistant football coaches Thursday following the introduction of former Ball State Offensive Coordinator Rich Skrosky as head coach on Dec. 12.

The coaches who were introduced are:

* Jerry Petercuskie - Defensive Coordinator

* Carlton Hall - Defensive Line

* Terry Lantz - Defensive Backs

* Scott Van Zile - Quarterbacks

* Cris Reisert - Tight Ends

* Billy Riebock - Receivers

"Everybody I've hired, I have a personal relationship with," Skrosky said. "You can't always do that."

Jerry Petercuskie joins Skrosky's staff as the defensive coordinator with nearly 40 years of coaching experience on his resume. After starting his career in 1975 as a part-time offensive line coach for Trenton State, Petercuskie's stops have included assistant jobs with Penn State (1976-1977), Brown (1978-82), Rutgers (1983-1988), Liberty (1989-1994), Virginia (1995-1996), Boston College (1997-2006) and North Carolina State (2007-2012).

Hall will take over the duties as defensive line coach on Skrosky's staff. Prior to his new job, he had stints as the D-line coach of Western Alabama (2013), Houston (2011-2012), Harvard (2007-2010), Georgetown (2006) and Columbia (2003-2005).

Joining Petercuskie and Hall on the defensive staff will be defensive backs coach Terry Lantz. Lantz coached with Skrotsky at Ball State (2011-2012), and for the decade prior had lots of experience playing against the Phoenix when he was an assistant at Wofford (2000-2010).

On the offensive side of the ball, Scott Van Zile will join the staff as quarterbacks coach. This is the second time Skrosky has hired Van Zile for the position. In 1999, when Skrosky served as offensive coordinator at Monmouth, he also selected Van Zile. Van Zile has remained at Monmouth for the past 14 years where he has served as quarterbacks coach and later offensive coordinator.

Also on the offensive end, Cris Reisert and Billy Riebock, who will coach tight ends and receivers respectively, followed Skrosky from Ball State where they were graduate assistants for the Cardinals. Prior to his time at Ball State, Reisert was the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Quincy (2008-2011). Riebock was an assistant for his alma mater, Ohio Dominion (2009-2012).

"No one person is less important than another," Skrosky said, "just like on our team."
