Williamsburg, V.A. - Four double-digit scorers propelled Elon to a 72-59 win against William & Mary Friday night. With the win, the Phoenix improves to 9-5 (2-1) in its inaugural Colonial Athletic Association season.
Freshman Malaya Johnson, sophomores Essence Baucom and Jenifer Rhodes and sophomore Lauren Brown, all scored in double-digits for the Phoenix.
A career night from Brown sparked the Elon offense as she scored a career-high 18-points, on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 from behind the arc.
Elon managed to get the win despite a poor performance from one of its key players. Senior Zora Stephenson left the court without recording a single basket shooting 0-of-5 from the field while recording only one-assist in a 24-minute outing.
The duo of Rhodes and Johnson cruised to 23 combined points in the paint, tallying 10 and 13 points respectively.
The win Friday night came after a small setback in its last game with a 57-47 loss against Drexel. This loss was Elon's first conference loss as a part of the CAA.
Elon will look to add another win to its conference record Sunday afternoon as the Phoenix hosts College of Charleston in Alumni Gym.
