Four years of dance comes to close from May 7-9 with XVcollective, a collaborating dance group, senior thesis concert.

The dancers perform original choreography and design created by senior dance performance and choreography. The show, titled continuance, portrays the ideas, artistry and movements the students have been working on for the past year.

The performers collaborated to create a show that reflects the vision of the group as a whole, while maintaining their individual style. The unique style of the show comes from the distinctive styles of the dancers who choreographed it.

The concert is presented in three sections and is woven together by the choreography. It explores the passage of time, with each section presenting a new interpretation.

The dancers hope to leave the audience with the thoughts of the emotions and passion from the collabortation of the 15 dancers into one group. This stems from the significance of continuance, which is to guide the audience past simply watching to thinking of the intentions behind the movements, even after the show has ended.

As senior, this is the last impression the dancers will leave on the university and reflect on their time here.

“I'm really excited to show our audience what we're capable of and how much we've grown over our four years here,” said senior Kaitlinn Brewer, a performer and choreographer. “As we move through the piece, we, as performers, are able to look back on our journey here and express ourselves more fully as performers and as women.”

She said while it was difficult to bring the opinions and visions of everyone together for a show less than an hour, Brewer is proud of what they have created.

“I wouldn’t change it for anything,” she said.

The show will run 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on May 7-8 and 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. May 9 in the Black Box Theatre. To reserve seats for the performance, email xvcollective@gmail.com.
