The Elon University women’s tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 73 East Tennessee State Sunday afternoon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
“I feel like we’re right there,” said head coach Elizabeth Anderson. “Hopefully we can get a little bit healthier, because I think that’s set us back some this spring. But we’re just gonna keep grinding at it and our chances will come.”
Sophomore Erica Braschi earned Elon’s lone point of the match with a win at No. 2 singles 6-2, 4-6, 4-2. ETSU senior Regina Nychytailova retired in the third set.
The loss drops the Phoenix to 2-8 on the season. The team will look to bounce back at 2 p.m. Thursday against the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in a matchup with a Colonial Athletic Association opponent.
