Elon University women's basketball sophomore guard Shay Burnett was named to the Colonial Athletic Association's (CAA) All-CAA First Team Tuesday night, the conference announced on its livestream award show.

Burnett led the Phoenix in scoring and rebounding, finishing with 13 points per game and 7.9 rebounds per game. The 13 points per game is tied for ninth in the CAA, and the 7.9 rebounds is seventh-best in the conference. She tallied 3.5 assists per game — tenth in the conference — and 1.3 steals per game, which is twelfth-best.

Burnett also led the CAA with 129 made free throws — which puts her tied for 40th in the NCAA as of March 7 — on 159 attempts, and her .811 shooting percentage at the free-throw line is fourth in the conference.

Burnett is the first All-Conference First Team player at Elon since Kelsey Harris '14 was named to the Southern Conference First Team in 2013-14, and the seventh Elon player to earn a women's basketball first-team honor since the Phoenix joined Division I.

In addition to Burnett, two other players were honored for Elon on Tuesday. Junior guard Lauren Brown and senior center Autumn Carter were named to the CAA All-Academic Team.

The Phoenix plays against the University of Delaware in the quarterfinals of the CAA Tournament at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
