Elon University's Student Union Board announced Jon Bellion as the headliner for the 2017 Homecoming Concert on Monday, according to a press release. SUB and SGA are co-sponsoring the event Nov. 4 at the Colonnades parking lot.
The New York singer's latest album, "The Human Condition, " released in 2016 at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. It includes popular songs like "All Time Low," "Overwhelming," and "Guillotine."
Bellion starts his Human Condition tour at Skyline Stage in Pennsylvania Sept. 8 and will continue to Elon as one of his last stops. Junior Colton Cadarette, SUB's Concert Director, says he is looking forward to welcoming Bellion.
"Heading into an exciting year at Elon, SUB knew we needed to bring an artist that would resonate with students like never before," Cadarette said. "We couldn't be more excited that the artist happened to be Jon Bellion."
Senior Jenny Berman agreed and said she's looking forward to her last Homecoming Concert.
"I am so excited," Berman said. "I didn't know him by name, but I knew a lot of his songs, and I think he will be a good time."
But others students, like senior Alex Harris, show little enthusiasm for the artist.
"I am completely indifferent to this guy," Harris said. "I wasn't planning on going to the Homecoming concert anyway, but now I'm really not going."
Love him or hate him, tickets for the Homecoming Concert can be redeemed through a valid Elon Pheonix Card, or through the Alumni Office. The event is free for all Elon students, faculty, and alumni.
