533 potential students gathered in the Great Hall of Global Commons to wrap-up day one of Rising Phoenix Weekend with ice cream and human bingo.

Today and tomorrow, prospective students and their families will, according to the admissions website, get a comprehensive look at life as an Elon student. The more than 500 potential students will spend time with an academic advisor, learn about programs, tour campus and talk to current students.

This is the first year potential students were not required to put down an enrollment deposit to attend the weekend, according to vice president of enrollment Greg Zaiser. Last year, 329 students attended.

First-year orientation leader Shekinah Reese had fun getting to talk to prospective students at the reception today.

“It’s going great. We did icebreakers, and my group opened up really easily,” Reese said. “I love it, love ice cream, and love getting to know people.”
