With many students planning on flying home in time for classes on Tuesday, area airports Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) says they are expecting most airlines to maintain normal flight schedules in the coming days. 

According to Andrew Sawyer, spokesman for RDU, half of today's scheduled flights are cancelled with Delta being the only airline operating. The airport expects most airlines to restore service tomorrow, with their main priority being safety. 

In a press release, GSO said it plans to remain open, but it's up to the individual airline to decide whether to continue to operate. 

Elon University has free return shuttles to campus scheduled from both RDU and GSO. Students should request shuttles by 2 p.m. Saturday using this form. 

The shuttle schedule to both airports is as follows.

Sunday: 2 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Monday: 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Tuesday: 11 a.m. 

If you are looking to reschedule your flight, each airline has a different rescheduling policy in order to have your change fees waived. 

Southwest

Flights scheduled between Friday, Sept. 14, and Monday, Sept. 17, into RDU can be changed within 14 days of the original date of travel. 

United

Flights scheduled between Friday, Sept. 14, and Sunday, Sept. 16, into RDU or GSO can be changed. 

Delta

Flights scheduled between Friday, Sept. 14, and Monday, Sept. 17, into RDU or GSO can be changed to a flight on or before Friday, Sept. 21. 

American

Flights scheduled between Friday, Sept. 14 and Monday, Sept. 17 in to RDU or GSO can be changed if you booked your ticket on or before Monday, Sept. 10. Flights can be rescheduled through Friday, Sept. 21.

JetBlue

Flights scheduled between Friday, Sept. 14 and Monday, Sept. 17 in to RDU can be rescheduled through Friday, Sept. 21.

Frontier

Flights scheduled between Friday, Sept. 14 and Sunday, Sept. 16 in to RDU can be changed if you booked your ticket on or before Monday, Sept. 10. Rescheduled must completed no later than Monday, Oct. 1.

Spirit

Flights scheduled between Friday, Sept. 14 and Sunday, Sept. 16 in to GSO can be rescheduled through Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Allegiant

Flights scheduled between Friday, Sept. 14 and Monday, Sept. 17 in to RDU can be rescheduled.
