Students had the opportunity to reflect on their values at the Call to Honor, which took place Oct. 4, 2018. Elon University’s student body president, Kenneth Brown Jr., welcomed the class of 2022 and introduced the president of Elon, Connie Book, and a former student class of 2018, Caroline Dean.
The freshman class president, Lauryn Adams, set the tone for the new year by speaking about respect, honesty, integrity and responsibility.
“Racism, sexism and homophobia have no place at Elon,” Adams said.
After the ceremony, freshmen were given an honor coin and encouraged to sign the honor boards outside of the Koury Athletic Center.
Students like freshman Jake Hattersley says he enjoyed the ceremony, but wishes it could have been a little different.
“I think it was great but maybe they could have it later in the day,” Hattersley said.
The Call to Honor is an Elon tradition that happens in the fall each year.
