Elon University’s SGA has just announced the Homecoming events for this upcoming week.

The first event starts at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, right outside of Lakeside Dining Hall. Students can participate in decorating banners for the Banner Parade. Any student organizations who are interested in being a part of this should reach out to Jonathan Stettler (jstettler@elon.edu) or Nick Urbanski (nurbanski@elon.edu).

At 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, doors will open for Elon’s first ever annual student/faculty basketball game in Alumni Gym. This is a free event and tipoff is currently scheduled for 6:00 p.m. There will be giveaway prizes including Elon merchandise, a Kindle, Homecoming concert tickets and more. A student team has already assembled to face off against women's basketball head coach Charlotte Smith and Title IX coordinator Mike Neiduski. WSOE will be providing music for the event.

Voting for Homecoming royalty opens at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, via Phoenix Connect. Kenneth Brown Jr., student body president, will be notifying students through an email. Voting will close at 5:00 p.m.

After the Harlem Globetrotters game at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, SGA is hosting Battle of the Bands at 10 p.m. The location is still TBD.

The weekend will kick off with Class Colors Day on Friday, Nov 2. Class officers will be driving around all day in decorated golf carts, handing out candy and blasting music.

Alumni, students and other community members are invited to attend the Rock-the-Block celebration that the evening. The celebration will begin at 5:00 p.m. with food trucks, lawn games, live music and more. The Banner Parade will also occur during this time to highlight Elon’s student organizations and Homecoming court.

At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, there will be a tailgate for the entire Elon Community on Bank of America Drive. The Homecoming football game against the University of Rhode Island will start at 1:30 p.m. The Homecoming royalty will be announced during the game.

After the game, the Homecoming concert with Jesse McCartney and Sean Kingston, featuring special guest Quinn XCII, will start at 8 p.m. in the Schar Center.

Students can contact Jack Johnson, student body secretary, at jjohnson95@elon.edu for more information about any of these events.
