Clarification: An earlier version of this story stated Elon University Campus Safety and Police would fine pedestrians for jaywalking. But the email did not specify that action.
Elon University Campus Safety and Police said it will place more of an emphasis on driving and pedestrian safety starting Nov. 12, according to an email sent to faculty and staff.
The email states the department will conduct more patrols on foot and in vehicles during this one-week initiative. Daylight Savings Time and nights starting earlier also makes it more dangerous on the road, the email said. Elon News Network asked the department if it would fine pedestrians for jaywalking, but the department could not confirm that.
