The family of Molly Offstein, the Elon University cross country runner who was struck by a car in March 2017, has reached a settlement with the university, according to records filed Dec. 4 in Alamance County Superior Court.
The family requested for the agreement to remain confidential. In September, Offstein's family settled with Keith Leamey, the driver of the vehicle that struck Offstein. The conditions of that settlement were also kept confidential.
On March 6, 2017, Offstein was hit while crossing University Drive at O’Kelly Avenue and sustained multiple serious injuries, including a traumatic brain injury.
In this month's court filings, Offstein's mother, Laura Byrnes, sought to represent her daughter in the case, arguing that Offstein was incapacitated and unable to represent herself.
