The Elon Board of Aldermen passed the ordinance which approved the annexation agreement between the town of Elon and town of Gibsonville 3-0. The board also approved the asset purchase agreement for land on Amick Road referred to as the "Travis Creek Pump Station," 3-0.
Aldermembers Emily Sharpe and John Peterson were absent.
This asset purchase agreement approves the purchase of the Travis Creek Pump Station from Gibsonville for approximately $1.9 million. The town says that the financing and operating costs would be covered by water and sewer revenues produced by the pump station.
The annexation agreement includes an extension of Elon's boundary line with Gibsonville. This is the expansion of land incorporated into Elon in the northern area of town. Gibsonville must now approve the agreement after holding a public hearing on Nov. 4. The next scheduled meeting of the Gibsonville Board of Aldermen is scheduled for Dec. 2.
