Alamance County voters decided against increasing the county sales tax by .25%. Voters were 59.40% against the tax while 40.6% were for it.
This is the second time the county has voted against the proposed tax increase that was estimated to make the county $6 million annually.
The tax would not have affected the gas and groceries, but would be imposed on places like retail stores and fast food restaurants.
