Updated Oct. 16 at 2:30 p.m. to include an email sent by the Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley.
An Elon University student’s car and other possessions including a wallet and a laptop were reported stolen from an off campus house on Woodale Drive, overnight, according to the student.
Elon Senior Maddie Emmerich said she was going to her 8 a.m. class when she noticed her keys were missing from inside her house. That’s when she said she went outside to find her car missing and called 911.
Later that day, Emmerich said police told her they found her car in a parking lot in Burlington, where she retrieved it.
“When have you ever heard of a car theft at Elon?” Emmerich said.
For Emmerich, it was a shock to her when all of this happened.
“I was freaking out, like my car is gone… to me that’s a pretty big deal,” Emmerich said.
There were a total of two stolen vehicles, as well as three vehicle break-ins on Thursday morning, according to an email sent by Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley.
Emmerich said her housemates also reported a stolen wallet and passport from their car parked in the driveway.
As of Friday afternoon, the town of Elon Police told Elon News Network that the police report is not available at this time.
The incidents are still under investigation, according to Dooley.
