The Gift of Life is an organization on Elon University's campus that saves lives with a swab. Last night they partnered with the Black Student Union to encourage students of color to join the bone marrow registry.
The partnership is because there's a lack of diversity on the registry. Elon freshman Madison Williams said the club's presentation made her realize it is an important cause to be a part of.
“After hearing that not a lot of African Americans really get matches and and that they’re the least amount of group that do, I, as an African American was like ‘oh well then let me swab to see if I can help someone,’” Williams said.
It is not too late to get swabbed and added to the bone marrow registry. For more details email Elon’s Gift of Life club president at ekatz11@elon.edu.
