After three seasons as the starting point guard for the Elon University men’s basketball team, junior Hunter McIntosh has entered the transfer portal.
Though McIntosh has entered his name into the transfer portal, it is not a guarantee he will leave Elon, but it does grant a release so that other schools may contact him about playing for their team next season.
McIntosh started 85 games at Elon and averaged 13.3 points per game last season. He was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association Third Team for the 2021-22 season and the All-CAA Second Team for the 2020-21 season. McIntosh also became the 46th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points, doing so on Feb. 10 against James Madison.
McIntosh is the fourth Elon player to officially enter the transfer portal. He joins guard Ben Daugherty, who did so on March 15, and guards Hunter Woods and Zac Ervin, who did so on March 22.
The decision comes two days after Elon head coach Mike Schrage announced his resignation. McIntosh was Schrage’s first ever signee as head coach at Elon in 2019.
