Ketanji Brown Jackson is the 166th justice and the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court. She was confirmed in a 53-47 vote on April 7, with three Republican senators joining all Democratic senators to support Jackson’s appointment.
Jackson is Biden’s first Supreme Court nominee and is only the sixth woman to serve on the Supreme Court. She will be sworn in once Justice Stephen Breyer retires this summer.
Jackson also served on the federal district court in D.C. as well as a commissioner in the U.S. Sentencing Commission.
