Billy Taylor has added his first new recruit to the roster just two weeks after becoming Elon University’s new men’s head basketball coach. Transferring from one of Taylor’s old programs, Belmont Abbey College, graduate student guard Sean Halloran will join the Phoenix next season.
Last season, Halloran earned a high of 27 points in one game and averaged 14.4 points. He was the team’s top scorer, ending with 460 points total. He also led the team in steals and assists and accumulated the most minutes. Halloran started every game he played in since his freshman year in 2018.
Halloran enters the Phoenix roster with his extra year of eligibility provided during the COVID-19 pandemic when teams could not compete to their fullest scheduling potential.
The decision comes after five Elon players announced transfers to new schools following the coaching change. Halloran is the 9th player confirmed to be on Elon’s roster next season.
