Republican Sean Boone is running unopposed for reelection as the district attorney for District 17.
District court judges are elected for 4 year terms. Boone was first elected in 2018 and began serving in January 2019.
As district attorney, he personally prosecutes violent crime trials and trains other prosecutors on trial techniques, according to his website. He is a vocal supporter of the Alamance County Crime Stoppers program, which encourages residents to assist local law enforcement agencies by reporting crime in their communities.
Boone was born and raised in Alamance County, graduating from Western Alamance High School in 1986. He earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from North Carolina State University before receiving his Juris Doctorate from the UNC School of Law in 1997.
He is an active member of St. Mark’s Church in Burlington, volunteer at a local nursing and rehabilitation facility and participant with Alamance County Meals on Wheels.
