The 2022 North Carolina State Fair ran from Oct. 13 to Oct. 23 and welcomed over 854,368 visitors, according to the fair’s attendance records as of Oct. 23. Though the fair is yet to reach its pre-pandemic attendance levels, the number of visitors has increased since last year.
The State Fair, which is located in Raleigh, hosts a variety of games, vendors, rides and other attractions. Classic games, such as ring toss, Jacob’s ladder and balloon pop, featured a variety of plush prizes for guests to win. There were also horse shows and livestock competitions throughout the ten-day run time of the festival that visitors were encouraged to watch.
This year, the fair featured three new rides: Air Maxx, Crazy Cabs and Wave Swinger 2. Tickets for rides were sold separately from the fairground admission tickets, which cost $13 at the gate for guests ages 13-64. Youth tickets cost $7, and senior tickets cost $5. Though admission tickets could be purchased with a card, ride tickets were cash only sales.
