Meredith Smith, former Elon University admissions staff member, died unexpectedly on Nov. 27 at 35 years old. Smith started her work in admissions as an undergraduate student and worked with the university for over 18 years.
Smith attended Elon for her undergraduate degree, graduating in 2008. She also pursued a masters of business administration from the Love School of Business, graduating in 2014.
Smith left Elon as a full-time employee in 2021, but continued as a temporary employee, most recently assisting with the recruitment efforts for the class of 2027, according to an Elon University press release.
Smith is survived by her husband and fellow Elon alumnus, Kyle, and their sons Brody and Landon, as well as her parents. A celebration of Life service will be held on Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. at St. Mark’s Community Church in Burlington. In lieu of flowers, it is asked that those who are able to should consider supporting Alamance County Young Life.
