Three Elon University baseball players were awarded preseason honors in the Colonial Athletic Association by Perfect Game.
Fifth year outfielder and catcher Luke Stephenson was named designated hitter to the preseason All-Conference team. In 2022, he split his time between DH and catcher hitting .251/.350/.549 in 266 plate appearances. He also led the CAA in home runs with 15.
Sophomore left-handed pitcher Shea Sprague was one of five starting pitchers to make the preseason All-Conference team. Sprague posted an impressive freshman season in 2022 and was named to the All-CAA first team, All-CAA rookie team and was the CAA Co-Rookie of the year. Sprague posted a 1.89 ERA over 62 innings pitched and 41 strikeouts.
Freshman right-handed pitcher Justin Mitrovich was named preseason freshman of the year. He was a three-year letter winner at Pennsbury high school and played club baseball for Indiana Prospects and Bluerocks Baseball.
The Phoenix will be home at Latham Park for its first game of the regular season Feb. 17 against the University of Kentucky.
