It’s a busy day on Elon University’s campus with freshmen moving into their dorms all across campus. In Historic Neighborhood, Priya Shah, a freshman from New Jersey, said she thinks that the move-in process has been organized and exciting. She also said she is excited for new experiences as she starts college.

“I’m excited to just try new things and get started and meet new people,” Shah said.

Shah’s mother, Sonal Shah, said she believes that the move-in process has been efficient.

“I think it's very efficient, very exciting,” Sonal said. “All the rallying coming in and everyone's just excited. I found it very easy, organized and efficient getting to this point. So, now, it's just about getting organized in the room.”

Freshman Caroline Bedard said she is excited to meet new people, and she chose Elon for its size.

“I liked the size,” Bedard said. “I thought it was a really good fit for me personally.”

Ben Barnes, a freshman from Holly Spring, North Carolina, said he is excited to meet new people throughout the next week, and he is excited for his time at Elon.

“I am excited to meet tons of new people, and Elon is a smaller school so it's a great fit for me,” Barnes said.

Barnes’ mother, Amber Barnes, cited the efficiency of Elon’s move-in process.

“The process coming in was excellent,” Amber said. “So far, so good.”

Elon University Vice President of Student Life Jon Dooley checked in with some of the freshmen moving into Historic Neighborhood and expressed his excitement about the day.

“Move-in Day is always really exciting, and particularly when the weather is beautiful it just makes it all a lot easier,” Dooley said.

Dooley said that move-in day is so special with all the energy that comes with it.

“What makes it so special is the excitement that comes with meeting your roommate for the first time, meeting friends on your floor, and just the energy and anticipation,” Dooley said. “You’ve been looking forward to this moment for a long time, and when it finally arrives, it’s just exciting.”

Freshman Ben Lisbon, who’s older brother went to Elon, said the process has been amazing, and he is excited for his classes.

“I’m actually excited to get into classes,” Lisbon said. “I’ve heard a lot from my older brother, and I think I’m going to be excited to learn a lot.”

Lisbon said he immediately knew that Elon was a great fit when he came to visit it.

“I kind of fell in love with it when I came down, and it’s just a great environment, great culture, and has very nice people,” Lisbon said.

Emelia Tager, a freshman from Boston, Connecticut, said Elon clearly stood out among the colleges she was considering.

“I liked the support system they provide, and I also liked the size of the campus,” Tager said.

Izzy Butler, a freshman business fellow, said she is excited to explore the campus in the coming days.

“I’m most excited to get to know the campus more,” Butler said.

Freshman Lexi Anderson was surprised by how easy the move-in process was. “ It’s been great, surprisingly smoothly,” Anderson said. “I wasn’t anticipating it to be such an easy get-everything-in type of process.”
