The grounds of the North Carolina Aviation Museum and Hall of Fame were filled with thousands of people waiting to hear from former President Donald Trump.

The rally marks Trump’s first outdoor event since the assassination attempt on his life July 13. He spoke behind bulletproof glass, with increased security presence around the perimeter.

Elon News Network was denied press credentials to film the podium area where Trump addressed the crowd.

Several vendors sold Trump merchandise around the lines of people waiting to enter the security checkpoint. Merchandise included Trump cut-outs, hats, shirts and Donald Trump honey.

Merchandise vendor Larry Burris said his main reason for attending the rally was the issue of abortion. He said he believes “abortion is homicide.”

“I just don't see how you can vote Democrat and call yourself Christians,” Burris said. “I saw a lady walking around with ‘abortion is homicide.’ I went out to the line and told her, I said, ‘You got the best shirt on that I've seen at this rally.’ And she appreciated it.”

Burris said he’s confident that Trump will win the election because there are “too many country people” in North Carolina who don’t believe in Harris.

“Especially since the Democrats switched up in the middle of the race,” Burris said. “Her California bull crap, it ain't gonna work over here.”

Next to the vendors, supporters sang songs such as “God Bless America,” and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” while waving flags. One supporter showcased their breakdancing routine wearing a Trump mask with a fake bloody, bandaged ear.

Wearing a shirt printed with Trump’s face, supporter Ebony Coots said that through the negativity of the Trump campaign, she has done her research and sorted through the lies and the truth.

“We were safe back then,” Coots said. “You know, he supports law enforcement and I'm a huge support of law enforcement. He cares about all the first responders and he cares about America. He cares about the American people.”

Coots said that if Trump wins in the Nov. 5 Presidential Election, he will fix everything — especially closing the border.

“I always tell people we all want people of all nationalities and different races and stuff like that to come over to America,” Coots said. “But you gotta do it the right way and this illegal way, that's not the way to do it.”

Coots said a big factor in her opinion is that American people don’t know who is coming in, which has “caused terror.”

“That's what I'm really scared of,” Coots said. “The border being open.”

Trump will travel to Glendale, Arizona on Aug. 23 with Turning Point PAC to continue his campaign.
