"The Shining" is freshman Ethan Brothers favorite horror movie. The film production major said he's drawn to the cinematic elements of the 1980 film.

"The cinematography with all of the dark, mind-bending shots and the plot twisting nature of the story really enhance its cult status during this spooky season," Brothers said.

The movie is one of five Halloween classics Graham Cinema will show throughout October.

About a 15-minute drive from campus, Graham Cinema will be hosting a Halloween Classics lineup from Oct. 4 to 31. Tickets are $4 each and can be purchased upon arrival at the theater.

The following films will be showing this month:

“Rosemary’s Baby”: 10 p.m. Oct. 4 and Oct. 5

“The Shining”: 10 p.m. Oct. 11 and Oct. 12

“Interview with The Vampire”: 10 p.m. Oct. 18 and Oct. 19

“Dark Awakening”: 10 p.m. Oct. 25 and Oct. 26

“Beetlejuice”: 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Oct. 30 and Oct. 31

Senior Deborah Han said out of the line up she has only seen Beetlejuice, but she said she is hoping to go see some of the other “iconic classics” the theater is showing.

“I have heard very good things about ‘Rosemary’s Baby,’ and ‘The Shining’ is a classic that I have never seen,” Han said.

The lineup of movies was carefully curated by manager Scott Matthews.

Matthews said the cinema has been hosting its Halloween Classics series every year since 2016.

"I knew this year was the 30th anniversary of 'Interview with a Vampire,'" Matthews said. "I thought of 'The Shining' because Shelley Duvall just passed. 'The Dark Awakening' is a big hit locally; there is a scene in the movie that was actually shot in our cinema. In that scene, you’re looking at the room you’re in."
