Culver’s, a Midwest fast-food chain, has made its way to Burlington. The blue-and-white-themed restaurant is one of 17 locations in North Carolina but the only one in Alamance County, which opened Dec. 9 at 1430 University Dr.
The Burlington Planning and Zoning Commission voted to approve the building site in August 2023.
The restaurant, filled with workers and locals, offers a wide variety of food — from its famous “ButterBurger” and fries to a fresh frozen custard selection, which customers can buy by the pint.
Around 9 p.m.—one hour before closing— an estimated 35 people were dining in, and several cars were waiting to order and receive their food in the drive-thru.
Burlington resident Austin Gregory said he’s only been to Culver’s once before his experience at the new location.
“It’s definitely packed out, so it’s nice,” Gregory said. “That’s what drew me here because I didn’t know it opened, and I saw all the cars, so I was like, ‘Let’s get Culver’s.’”
Gregory said a big reason why he likes the restaurant is the variety.
“There’s seafood, burgers, you can get chicken,” Gregory said. “You can get whatever you want. And they got good custard.”
Culver’s is opening another location in Wendell, North Carolina, which is set to open Jan. 13, 2025.
