An email sent earlier this morning by Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley informed Elon students that the university would be delaying its opening until noon.
Last night, around half an inch of snow fell onto Elon’s campus and due to the cold temperatures, the snow stuck to roads, making it unsafe for drivers. According to Dooley, facilities management crews have been working since last night to clear roads and pathways from snow.
Due to this delay, morning classes will start at noon and end at 2 p.m. and afternoon classes will start at 2:30 and end at 4:30 p.m.
Faculty who commute a bit far from Elon, Dooley said, might not be able to travel safely onto campus, so they should notify their deans or supervisors.
There are some offices or services opening before noon that students can look out for. Campus recreation opened today at 6 a.m. Both Mcewen and Lakeside will both open at 10 a.m. Moseley Student Center will open at 9 a.m., but Mail Services won’t be open until noon. Student Health Services is open during its normal operating times by appointment, and the Elon Express will resume its shuttles at 11 a.m.
Dooley was not available for immediate comment.
