On the fourth day of Greek Week, 16 of Elon University’s greek organizations competed in a dance competition at Schar Center.
Despite scoring a goal to pull within one in the closing minutes, the Elon University women’s soccer team could not find an equalizer, as the Phoenix suffered a season-ending 2-1 loss to Towson in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament.
Elon’s Gender and LGBTQIA Center hosted Fall Pride Fest Oct. 27, where students and the local community could learn and celebrate various identities, play games and hang out with friends. The GLC plans to host a Spring Pride Fest next semester.
Musical duo Social House will open the Elon University Student Union Board fall concert Nov. 2. To see both Social House and Verdes at Elon, students can purchase tickets for $10 until 11:59 p.m. Nov. 1 through the Elon ticketing site. For the first time, there is an early voting location in the town of Elon. Elon University’s South Gym was added as a polling place by the Alamance County Board of Elections in July. Now, voters registered in Alamance County can cast their votes on campus.
The third day of Greek Week was Philanthropy Day, and members of the fraternity and sorority community selected Habitat for Humanity as the week’s philanthropy. Kappa Delta raised the most money and totaled $15,313. At the end of Day 3, Team 5 surpassed Team 1 in the standings to take the lead.
Oct. 23 to Oct 29 markes the 12th annual Asexual Awareness Week, or “Ace Week.” During this autumn week, the asexual community puts together a campaign for asexual awareness both online and in local communities.
With 23 scholarship offers and a state championship under his belt, Hugh M. Cummings High School junior and running back Jonathan Paylor has emerged as the second-best player in North Carolina and 34th-best in the country for the Class of 2024.
Beginning in June 2023, Elon University will be home to an additional residence hall in East Neighborhood. The new building will have 90 beds as well as a common area for students located at the front of the building.

The Elon University volleyball team returned to Schar Center today to avoid a sweep at home after losing 3-1 on Oct. 22 to the College of Charleston. The Phoenix defeated the Cougars 3-2 in an intense, back and forth five-set battle.
Elon’s seven-man senior class stepped up for the Elon University men’s soccer team on Senior Day, as three seniors netted goals to propel the Phoenix past College of Charleston in a crucial 3-2 conference victory.
