America in 2020 has emerged as a divided country. The country’s divergence came to a head with an intense Election Day that saw former Vice President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump face off. The path ahead has the American people wondering how they got here and where they go from here.

Alamance County voters head to the polls on Election Day

As of Nov. 3, North Carolina had 7.3 million registered voters, according to the North Carolina State Board of Elections website. NCSBE said it anticipates that the results reported by the end of election night will include 97% or more of all ballots cast in North Carolina in the 2020 general election. Some Alamance County voters opted to vote in-person on Election Day.

East Haggard Avenue to be closed on election night

East Haggard Avenue will be closed on election night until Nov. 5 for an art project that will take place on the road. Elon University applied for a special events request for the closure of the road. This request was approved the day before the road was expected to close.

Elon cans composting due to pandemic precautions

Only single-use containers are being used on campus this semester, as well as in the dining halls, as an effort to minimize the risk of transmitting COVID-19. Post-consumer compostable waste, such as used to-go boxes, is not currently being composted this fall semester due to challenges coming from COVID-19, according to the Elon sustainability website.
