Elon athletics activity suspended due to COVID-19

All Elon University varsity athletics have paused practice until further notice due to the spread of COVID-19 among athletes, according to Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley. In an email to undergraduate students, Dooley said 21 student-athletes have tested positive for COVID-19, which includes a cluster of football players.

Elon English professor’s experience in quarantine

Senior Lecturer in English Paula Patch had been teaching all of her classes in-person. She had plans for students to learn remotely, but never thought she would have to use them herself. Patch said she thought she might get COVID-19 from being on campus, but never thought the virus would be brought into her home.

Hispanic Heritage Month is officially observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, beginning on the anniversary of independence for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mexico and Chile also celebrate their independence on Sept. 16 and Sept.18, respectively.

27 students have or are facing conduct charges for hosting gatherings

27 students have faced or are in the process of facing conduct charges for hosting mass gatherings as of Sept. 12, according to Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley, representing an increase of 20 students since Aug. 25. Students who are charged with hosting gatherings larger than what is allowed by the university and town of Elon are suspended from campus.

The looking glass self describes how people develop their characters from interactions with others. A look inside Elon University's quarantine spaces

Elon University sophomore Bella Roy said she had to go into quarantine after an individual she had been in close contact with tested positive for COVID-19. Roy had a negative test result, but still had to undergo a two-week quarantine. The two-week quarantine period for close contacts are the guidance and directives of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the Alamance County Health Department.
