Power restored after outage darkens much of campus

Power went out on campus shortly after 11:20 a.m. Monday morning, leaving much of campus in the dark. Backup generators kicked in to keep emergency lights and some Wi-Fi service on. According to a spokesperson for Duke Energy, the source of the power outage is off of Walker Avenue. A fallen tree on a power line is suspected to be the source of the outage.

UNC basketball dominates in Elon Schar Center opener

Schar Center hosted its first men’s basketball game Friday night. Serenaded by hoop-hungry fans, Elon University men’s basketball team got their spotlight matching up with the the No. 8 team in the country: the Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels humbled the Phoenix 116-67, dropping the Phoenix to 1-1 on the season.

Halftime update: Elon vs. UNC

Elon University's men's basketball team is officially settled into their new space. The Phoenix finds itself down 63-45 at the break. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill graduate-year guard Cameron Johnson leads all scorers with 16 in the half. Senior guard Sheldon Eberhardt leads the Phoenix with 11 points.

The Oak House plans to expand to Durham

After nearly five years in Elon, the Oak House will expand to Durham, N.C. The popular coffee house and bar plans to open its doors to the Bull City in late spring 2019 with this location also featuring a whiskey bar.

To ring in the special occasion Elon brought in the No. 8 University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Tar Heels to break in Schar Center. No matter how uneven the game may seem on paper, they play every game for a reason.

Elon drops opener to UNC 100-69

Elon University’s women's basketball team (0-1) was unable to start the reign of Schar Center in style, dropping their first game of the regular season 100-69 to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1-0) on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

North Carolina House District 64 Live Blog

The incumbent for North Carolina House District 64 is Dennis Riddell (R). He wants to continue to improve the economy by supporting local businesses and agriculture. His opposition, Elliot Lynch (D), also wants to better education through funding, says he stands by the elderly and wants accessible healthcare.
