All That JAS celebrates 20 years of business

Since opening, the store has moved locations three times and changed its inventory throughout. All That JAS started in Graybeal’s basement before moving to downtown Burlington. It relocated to the Faucette House on East Trollinger Avenue before finding its latest home at the downtown Elon location, where it’s been for over 10 years.

Burlington residents grateful for new, outdoor gym

The completion of Burlington’s outdoor gym makes it the third one of its kind in the Alamance County area, along with the ones located on Elon University’s campus and in Mebane. Each court is essentially a mirrored version of one another — containing variants in color and visual aesthetic — as they were all designed by the National Fitness Campaign.

During Elon University’s Senior Kickoff celebration, Book encouraged students to enjoy their final year, to remember to give back and to reflect on their time at Elon. University President Connie Book said seeing seniors grow throughout their time at Elon is her favorite part of working in higher education.

Elon University reports uptick in COVID-19 cases

Elon University reported 189 cases in the week ending Aug. 29, up from 23 the week before. An email from Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley Aug. 29 informed students of the uptick in cases. University physician Dr. Ginette Archinal said the increase doesn’t surprise her.

ABSS celebrates first day of new school year

Stepping off buses, hopping out of cars, waving from the doorway. Students said goodbye to parents and hello to a new  school year. Aug. 29 was the first day of school for everyone in the Alamance-Burlington School System.

Elon engineering earns accreditation

Elon University’s engineering program is now accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. This accreditation means that the program meets standards that will produce graduates able to enter technical fields.

Elon University alumni host ‘biggest challenge yet’ on campus

Joey Gizzi and Steven Lannum, hosts of AreYouKiddingTV, returned to Elon University to host a series of challenges where Elon students could win prizes. One of the challenges this weekend was the duo's biggest one yet and included three locations. AreYouKiddingTV is set to return to campus for more challenges and fun on Homecoming Weekend.

Carnival on the commons

Elon’s Student Union Board hosted the annual fall carnival on Young Commons Aug. 26 from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. where students gathered with snacks and games.

Meal plan vs. meal prep: the cost of eating habits at Elon University

In dining halls, students are given access to a variety of stations that can cater to different dietary needs and restrictions. According to the Elon Dining Website, dining hall meals are made with “responsibly sourced” ingredients, 20% of which ​​are grown, harvested or produced within 150 miles of campus and contain no “artificial ingredients, additives or synthetic chemicals.”
