Elon University tutoring services feel lasting effects of pandemic

An April 2022 study by McKinsey and Company, a global management consulting company, found that students across the globe are eight months behind where they would have been academically without the pandemic. Analyzing this study, Danielle DaSilva, a calculus tutor at Elon University, said she’s worried about what the future could look like for incoming students.

Burlington bands raise money for music department

Cummings High School marching band hosted a Battle of the Bands concert on April 9, inviting four local schools and universities to fill the gym with the sounds of drums. With new school funding, Band Director Greg Milton’s band now has enough instruments for each person, but the challenges have not gone away.

Every day, Walter Ostrowka checks the news for the latest updates from Ukraine. The Ukrainian North Carolina resident has watched his family’s country be attacked by Russia for over two months. But while Ostrowka is concerned about those facing daily attacks, shellings and deaths in Ukraine, he is also concerned about how Americans view the war and other international issues.

Elon University students host benefit concert in honor of Ukraine

Over 50 Elon University students will come together on April 28 to showcase their talents, skills and other gifts for a special talent show — “Elon Elite.” From live singing and band performances to fire throwing, this talent will showcase students’ special skills. But it’s also about raising money for those in need.
