COVID-19 affects early decision applications for incoming students

Elon University offers all three of these options and on average, 393 students apply early decision per year. This year, however, the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown a wrench into the college application process. As the pandemic has impacted the economy and workforce, many students have had to reevaluate their college choice.

ABSS teachers, families grapple with online learning

The Alamance-Burlington School System originally planned to start the year remotely and transition to Plan B halfway through the semester. But on Oct. 23, ABSS reversed course and decided pre-K through 12th grade students would not return to the classroom until January 2021.

Alamance County voters head to the polls on Election Day

As of Nov. 3, North Carolina had 7.3 million registered voters, according to the North Carolina State Board of Elections website. NCSBE said it anticipates that the results reported by the end of election night will include 97% or more of all ballots cast in North Carolina in the 2020 general election. Some Alamance County voters opted to vote in-person on Election Day.

East Haggard Avenue to be closed on election night

East Haggard Avenue will be closed on election night until Nov. 5 for an art project that will take place on the road. Elon University applied for a special events request for the closure of the road. This request was approved the day before the road was expected to close.
