Baltutis wins third term as mayor of Burlington

Ian Baltutis — an Elon University alumnus —won the mayoral election for the city of Burlington. With all precincts reporting Baltutis has won with 66.54% of the votes according to the unofficial election results from the North Carolina State Board of Elections.

For the sixth year in a row, Buddhist monk Geshe Sangpo visited Elon University to construct a sand mandala for peace and healing. His visits usually last three days, and his mandala designs differ each year.

Some students seek to stay on campus during Fake Break

Elon University will be closed following J-term from January 25 to February 2, 2020 for fake break, according to Residence Life. Like Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks, students may not remain on campus in their residence halls unless they submit a formal request.

Tornado watch in effect until 11 p.m. for Elon

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for 27 central North Carolina counties including Alamance County. The NWS also issued a hazardous weather outlook for the same area. Both are in effect until 11 p.m. Thursday night.

Introducing Elon's 2019 Homecoming Court

Elon University’s 2019 homecoming Court is comprised of 10 seniors — nine women and one man — who have been nominated to represent their organizations, class and university as a whole. Each candidate is running for the title of homecoming royal to support their chosen philanthropy.
