Elon faces Charleston two more times this weekend. Elon is in need of a turnaround, as the team is currently second to last in the Colonial Athletic Association, with a conference record of 3-7. Only the top four teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the CAA Tournament in May, which will be contested at Latham Park.
Elon will face the top seeded William & Mary Tribe in the semifinals at 11 a.m. tomorrow. William & Mary defeated Elon 7-0 on Feb. 6 in a match played indoors in Williamsburg, Virginia. Leonard said the Tribe are a tough matchup, but believes Elon has a better chance of beating William & Mary on outdoor courts than indoors.
The tournament will be held April 24 through 26. Each day, 18 holes will be played at the Dataw Island Club course.
While head coach Kathy Bocock serves as a daily role model for Elon University softball players, she became more inspiring to the team when she hit 500 wins as a softball coach during their victory against College of Charleston on April 9. Reaching that 500th win has now placed her as one of the most successful coaches in the history of Elon softball.

This news comes after former men’s basketball head coach Mike Schrage announced his resignation as head coach and transferred to Duke University for a new role. Schrage will serve as a special assistant to the head coach, Jon Scheyer.
