Raising Rescues: Local barn saves foal trio

Last spring, when Chance, Belle and Blue were loaded off of the horse-trailer that carried them 11 hours, from Last Chance Corral’s headquarters in Ohio to HighClere Farms in Burlington, it was clear the foals had been through a lot, especially 6 day-old Blue. Within 24 hours, Blue needed a catheter to pump fluids into his tiny, frail body.

Grandfather passes love of cinema to granddaughter by sharing story

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIbQHwws3vc “There was so much blood.” This is a phrase Elon University sophomore Emma Vo heard her grandfather utter repeatedly into the phone as he told her, for the first time, the story of standing witness to one of the most iconic events of the Vietnam War. “He’d never talked to me about this,” Emma said.

Good life: Elon alumna lives dream

“It’s the little things” is a statement commonly heard on the topic of what makes life good. If you pluck this little electric vehicle out of the “Elon bubble” and place it in Northeast India, people would probably call it an auto rickshaw — a three-wheeled cabin vehicle that serves as an essential form of urban transport in many developing countries. This January during Winter Term, five Elon students will be driving two auto rickshaws nearly 2,000 miles in less than two weeks in an ultimate adventure called the Rickshaw Run in India. Seniors Maria Castine, Will Stirn, Ben Donahue, Jack Halligan and junior Jordan Nulsen will be making this journey.

New Barnes & Noble bookstore manager brings fresh experience, love of literature to position

When classes started in August, many students ventured to Elon University’s Barnes & Noble campus bookstore to retrieve their textbooks. This year, the shipment of those textbooks came with the delivery of a new bookstore manager, Jeremy Hunt. And similar to those books, there’s a story that led Hunt to Elon. Hunt worked at his first bookstore in college as a student employee, just like those he works with now.
