Burlington announces rebranding and redevelopment of downtown

"2016 will be remembered as the year the city remade itself," said mayor and Elon University alumnus Ian Baltutis. Tuesday night, set on the backdrop of the historic Paramount Theater, The Burlington Downtown Corporation Board of Directors and Brand Development Team at Greensboro-based Bouvier Kelly announced their plans to both rebrand and revitalize downtown Burlington.

Winter weather update

At least for the Piedmont Triad region, Winter Storm Jonas has been underwhelming and luckily it will continue to follow that trend. At one point Thursday night, the National Weather Service was anticipating and predicting upwards of 9 inches of snow - yes, snow, not sleet - for Elon's area specifically.

Students to travel to Brazil for Internet Governance Forum

Next week, six lucky communications students, including a few members of our staff, will be traveling to Joao Pessoa, Brazil to participate in the tenth annual Internet Governance Forum and explore the future of the internet. [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fakSGBY8x6Y&feature=youtu.be&noredirect=1&w=560&h=315] This is a part of the Imagining the Internet Project led by Elon Professor Janna Anderson of the School of the Communications. "We take student-faculty teams across the world to big internet events to ask people at these events, the smartest people, about the internet, what they think might be happening now and in the future," she said. The role of the project is to look at the future of the Internet, a topic Anderson says is relevant to students. "The children are the future and so when people at these events see the people they're building the internet future for, they get very inspired and they also give really great answers.

Elon Law celebrates commencement for the class of 2024

As undergraduate students hurried to their morning finals and packed up to head off to break, the Elon Law class of 2024 was savoring their final moments before officially receiving their Jurisprudence Doctorate during the commencement ceremony for the class of 2024 on Dec. 13 in Alumni Gym. Student commencement speaker, Robert Retic, said not only was his class ready for the next chapter, but they are on the road to change the entire industry with their work with everything they have learned at Elon Law.

Elon School of Health Sciences celebrates graduating class of 2024

Elon University’s School of Health Sciences class of 2024 transitioned from students to alumni during the school’s commencement ceremony on Dec. 13 in Alumni Gym where Commencement speakers father and son, Jeff Shoup G’ 00 G’ 05 and Durand Shoup G’ 22, encouraged graduating students to leave their profession better than they found it. The ceremony recognized 18 graduating students from the accelerated bachelor of science in nursing program, 36 graduating students from the master of science in physician assistant studies program and 41 graduating students from the doctor of physical therapy program.
