Elon University men’s soccer qualifies for NCAA tournament
For the first time since 2015, the Elon University men’s soccer team is heading to the NCAA tournament.

For the first time since 2015, the Elon University men’s soccer team is heading to the NCAA tournament.
A 0-0 tie against UNC Wilmington secured a first ever outright regular season CAA title for the Elon University men’s soccer team. The Phoenix will be the No. 1 seed in the CAA Tournament, which Elon will host at Rudd Field.
In its final home game of the regular season, the Elon University women’s soccer team defeated William & Mary to clinch a spot in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament. Elon has won three matches in a row and can still win the regular season championship next week.
The Elon University’s women’s soccer team earned a convincing, wire-to-wire 2-0 victory in its conference opener against the Northeastern University Huskies Thursday night.
Former outfielder Alex Iadisernia was selected by the Cardinals in the seventh round of the MLB draft, with the 217th overall pick.
Alex Iadisernia, an outfielder for Elon University’s baseball team for the last three years, is hoping to become just the sixth Phoenix hitter ever to be drafted in the top 10 rounds of the MLB draft next week.
With the win, the Phoenix improved to 24-22 on the season, with an 8-10 record in conference play. The team is currently the sixth and last team in position to qualify for the CAA tournament, which will be played at Latham Park starting May 25.
The Phoenix return to action on Thursday, Nov. 18 in the first round of the Charleston Classic, a three-day invitational in South Carolina, against the West Virginia University Mountaineers, a member of the Big 12 conference.
Next up for the Phoenix is a game against the Villanova University Wildcats on Saturday Nov. 6. The homecoming game at Rhodes Stadium will kick off at 2 p.m.
The Elon men’s soccer team improved to 4-3 on the season, and 2-0 in conference play, after defeating the College of Charleston Cougars 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. The team will look to finish their road swing on a high note on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 6:00 p.m. against Radford.
The Elon men’s basketball team advanced to the Colonial Athletic Association tournament final Monday night for the first time in school history after beating 4th-seed Hofstra University in a 76-58 semifinal win. Next up for the Phoenix is a finals clash with the winner of the Drexel/Northeastern game on Tuesday at 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
The Elon men’s basketball team advanced to the Colonial Athletic Association tournament semifinals for the second straight season after beating top seed James Madison University in a 72-71 quarterfinal win. The Phoenix, seeded eight in the conference tournament, now move to a 9-8 record on the season, as James Madison, the one seed, drops to 13-7.
The CAA announced that it would be playing on an adjusted schedule in the spring, which includes six conference games with the option for individual teams to schedule two out-of-conference games. The team has been doing what it can to stay ready for the spring. On Oct. 17, the team started full team practices with COVID-19 guidelines.
