CHAMPS provides mentorship to Elon Elementary

Douglas ’10, a former Elon University varsity basketball player, was working on his research topic in his upperclassmen years when he noticed the lack of health programs for young boys in Alamance County. While there were well-known programs for girls, such as “Girls on the Run,” he noticed boys seemed to have limited options.

Relay For Life raises record high amounts

Hundreds of Elon University students gathered to increase cancer awareness in the annual Colleges Against Cancer Relay for Life 12-hour fundraiser April 23-24. Despite having to be moved inside because of rain, the event shattered previous fundraising records with a total of $90,388.61.

​Elon’s Global Film Series finishes out semester with showing of “The Harvest / La Cosecha”

On Tuesday Evening, Elon University’s Global Neighborhood film series aired its last film, “The Harvest / La Cosecha.” This year, films were held in the Global Commons Media Room and the series theme was Food: The Culture, Politics, and Ethics of Eating. This award-winning documentary “The Harvest / La Cosecha” explores the theme of child labor while following the lives of three migrant children who work in the agriculture industry with their parents. Zulema, a 12-year-old migrant worker, has picked crops with her mom since she was just 6 years old.

Beta bolsters in popularity

Elon University welcomed its newest fraternity to campus this spring, Beta Theta Pi. With this addition, Elon now has eight Interfraternity Council chapters. The new Beta Theta Pi chapter, more commonly known as Beta, has a total of 90 members from all four class years.

SPDC hosts inagural On-Campus Employment Fair

Elon University’s Student Professional Development Center (SPDC) hosted its first on-campus student employment fair Wednesday afternoon. The event was held in McKinnon Hall in Moseley center, where over 14 on-campus employers set up booths for prospective employees.
